Getting set up with Dave

Three small steps, and you're done.

1

Download Dave

From the App Store or Google Play — about a minute. No sign-up, no email, no questions asked.

2

Put Dave on your home screen

Somewhere your thumb finds it without thinking. At 3am, every extra tap matters.

3

Say hello on an okay day

Tap around while you're feeling alright, squish the fidget, play one calming audio. On a hard day, your hands will already know the way.

The most important five minutes

A hard day is the worst possible time to try to remember what helps you. So on a good day, you write it down — a kind note from the you who's doing okay, to the you who's struggling.

Warning signs

How it starts for you: not sleeping, isolating, racing thoughts.

What helps

What's worked before, for example, walking, music, a shower, your favourite Dave audio.

My loved ones

Names and numbers, so there's no hunting through contacts on a bad day.

You don't have to do it alone — filling it in with your social prescriber or someone you trust works really well. And once it's in place, Dave unlocks the Pause widget as a little thank-you.

Getting the best from Dave

None of this is required. Dave works from the first tap.

Find your favourite

One of Dave's audio tracks or tools will just work for you. Use it every time — your brain learns "this means we're going to be okay".

Dump first, sort later

Empty your head into a Brain Dump, as messy as it comes. When you're ready, Dave sorts it by asking simple questions.

Dave grows with you

New widgets quietly unlock as you spend time together. No streaks, no pressure — nothing is taken away if you're gone a while.

Tell someone Dave's around

Let a partner, friend or support worker know you use Dave. On a rough day, when you can't think of it yourself, a gentle "shall we open Dave?" from someone who cares can be the nudge that helps.

Being honest with you

Dave is a companion alongside any other support you have. Dave isn't therapy, medical advice or an emergency service, and is never watching, judging or scoring you.
