About Dave
Dave is your pocket mental health companion — a friendly presence ready to support you through moments of anxiety or when you simply need calm. The app provides self-help tools including breathing exercises, grounding techniques, audio support, journalling, and crisis support features. Created by Harness the Spark Ltd.
Data We Collect
None.
Dave operates entirely on your device. We do not:
- Collect any personal information
- Track your usage or behaviour
- Use analytics or tracking tools
- Store data on external servers
- Require account creation or login
- Access your contacts, location, or other device data
Data Stored on Your Device
Dave stores certain information locally on your device to provide its features:
- Journal entries — Your written reflections and mood logs
- Safety plan — Your personal crisis support information
- Wins — Your recorded achievements
- Anchors — Photos you choose to save within the app
- Voice notes — Audio recordings you make within the app
- Letters to self — Letters you write to your future self
- Pause notes — Your custom reminders
- Contacts — Support contacts you add to the app
This data is stored only on your device using standard secure storage. It is never transmitted anywhere. If you delete the app, this data is permanently deleted.
A note on the Google Play "Data safety" label: Google Play's Data safety section lists "Phone number" among the data Dave handles. This is because Google defines "collected" to include any data an app processes on the device — including the support-contact numbers you choose to type into your Safety Plan so the app can dial them for you. It does not mean your phone numbers leave your device. They don't: Dave stores them only on your device and never sends them to us, or to anyone else.
Photo Library Access
Dave may request access to your photo library for two purposes:
- Saving drawings — To save artwork you create in the Draw feature
- Adding anchor photos — To select meaningful images for your Anchors gallery
This access is optional and only used when you explicitly choose to save or import an image. Dave does not access your photo library without your action, and no images are ever uploaded or shared.
Third-Party Services
Dave does not integrate with any third-party services, advertising networks, or analytics platforms. There are no SDKs collecting data in the background.
Children's Privacy
Dave is intended for users aged 12 and above. We do not knowingly collect any information from children or anyone else, as we do not collect data at all.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change how Dave handles data (for example, if we add optional cloud sync in the future), we will update this privacy policy and notify users through an app update. Any new data features would be opt-in and clearly explained.
Your Rights
Under GDPR and UK data protection law, you have rights regarding your personal data. Since Dave doesn't collect any personal data, these rights are automatically fulfilled:
- Right to access — All your data is on your device; you have full access
- Right to deletion — Delete the app to remove all data
- Right to portability — Export features coming soon
